About the Department:

The Brunei Gallery, SOAS has for over 25 years has presented an exciting programme of international exhibitions and associated events that reflect the many diverse subjects and regions studied by the School being dedicated to promoting a better understanding of the art, culture, history and contemporary contexts of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The galleries have exhibition space on three floors, with exhibitions changing every three months allowing for up to 12 exhibitions a year. SOAS has its own Collections of art and artefacts managed by the galleries and used for study, display and teaching purposes.  

About the Role

To assist with the management and development of the SOAS artworks Collection, working towards ACE Accreditation status for these and provide administrative support to the Galleries and exhibitions programme. The role will lead, maintain and provide support and promotion to others on education, public engagement, and outreach programmes that engage students and community groups with the collections and exhibitions, ensuring they are used as a learning resource by the widest possible audience. 

About you:

You will need to demonstrate good working knowledge of collections care and development practice in line with requirements for ACE Accreditation and SPECTRUM procedures. You will be required to communicate effectively in order to convey information routinely to assist other’s understanding of yours and the Galleries work.
