Post-Doctoral Research Associate Position: Plant abiotic stress tolerance by arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate in abiotic stress tolerance to work with Dr Jeongmin Choi at the Crop Science Centre, starting between 1 November 2022 and 1 June 2023.

Symbiosis between plants and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi improves plant resilience against drought, salt and heat stress conditions. This project aims to develop the genetic markers for breeders to select cultivars associated with the symbiosis-mediated stress tolerance. We will use diverse rice Asian and African rice varieties to identify new genetic components to understand the mechanisms underpinning abiotic stress tolerance. The project will involve arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis, plant physiology and population genetics combined with functional characterization of genes in rice.

Applicants must have a solid background in physiology of stress responses in plants. And general knowledge in breeding, molecular genetics, and statistical analyses will be beneficial.

Informal enquiries are welcomed and should be directed to Dr Jeongmin Choi (jc913@cam.ac.uk).

To apply, please upload a cover letter and CV (including details of 2 referees) as well as a publication list.
