This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC) registered clinical trials units in the country. The Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit (CRCTU) is based in the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences, University of Birmingham and specialises in running cancer clinical trials. The Unit has an extensive portfolio of phase I, II and III clinical trials in adults and children covering a wide range of disease sites. The Unit employs a multidisciplinary team of over 180 staff. The CRCTU receives substantial core funding from Cancer Research UK and additional funding from other charities, government and pharmaceutical companies. The CRCTU currently has a vacancy for a Data Manager to join our expanding trial management teams.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the clinical research data set for one or more clinical trial protocols. Their principal duties will include obtaining, entering and cleaning data from participating sites. They will also provide secretariat services and administrative support to the multi-disciplinary collaborative research group(s) engaged in conducting trials.
Applicants should have degree or formal vocational qualification (e.g. HND or NVQ 4) or relevant work experience, ideally gained in a medical or academic setting. Experience of medical coding, data entry and data validation techniques and the ability to query and maintain databases is required. Excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team are also essential for this position.
