About the role
Bath School of Art, Film & Media is seeking an experienced artist/designer/maker with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to innovative teaching and learning. You will join a team of academics to coordinate, deliver and evolve our highly regarded undergraduate course: BA (Hons) Creative Arts Practice. The candidate should have a drive to lead our Creative Arts Practice provision as Course Leader and will therefore play a key role reshaping the course over the coming years.
Creative Arts Practice places emphasis on craft skills, where making is central. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates that have the experience and knowledge to expand the Creative Art Practice’s portfolio of creative disciplines, and this could include innovation in the following areas: Bookmaking, Ceramics, Graphic Arts/Design, Jewellery, Printmaking, Product, Textiles, Woodwork and Glass-slumping. We are also keen to hear from candidates that have a sound awareness of the evolution of craft practices, particularly in relation to sustainability.
The successful candidate will have the capacity to enthuse and motivate our students to become self-directed professionals. Candidates will be practitioners with either experience of teaching in further/higher education and/or will have first-hand experience of working as a sole trader, small business manager. As a visionary individual you will ensure our graduates are well placed to establish successful careers as artists/designers/makers in today’s competitive and volatile market. The successful candidate will, therefore, play a leading role advancing professional practice opportunities and employability components across our provision.
