HORIZON-MSCA-2021-DN.01 EUTERPE: European Literatures and Gender from a Transnational Perspective project is looking for Doctoral Candidates (DCs) to participate in the project. Currently one position is open with the Coventry University for a Doctoral candidate who will be appointed as a Research Fellow at Grade 6 to conduct research and write a thesis on “The role of transnational literatures in the decolonisation of understandings of gender within the European academe”(WP6).
We are seeking candidates who can demonstrate expertise both in literary and gender studies, with an interest in decolonizing approaches to the teaching of Women’s and Gender Studies within European Higher Education. Candidates should have some experience of feminist methodological approaches and qualitative social sciences research methods.
Research Brief: Drawing on interdisciplinary feminist methods and methodologies, including pedagogical and textual content analyses, curricula case studies, participant observation and semi-structured interviews with educators, students and transnational intellectuals in cross-European contexts, the recruited Research Assistant/Doctoral Candidate based at Coventry University will investigate the ways in which transnational literatures (including text, novels, poetry, play texts, digital literary media) have influenced processes of pedagogical decolonisation within the teaching of Women’s and Gender Studies. The research asks to what extent transnational intellectuals and literatures that challenge thinking about European gender identities have been deployed to develop, extend and decolonise theoretical frameworks for rethinking politics of identity within interdisciplinary gender studies.
As a part of their research training, all EUTERPE Doctoral Candidates will have the following duties:
