About us

UCLIC straddles UCL Computer Science and UCL Psychology. It is a world-leading Centre of Excellence in Human-Computer Interaction teaching and research, studying interactions between people and technology, and working collaboratively with the research community and industry. The Department of Computer Science is a large department with over 120 academic staff. It is one of the top-rated research institutions in the world, and currently the top recipient of Horizon 2020 funding in Europe. It sits at the nexus of a broad range of inter-disciplinary collaborations across UCL. The Division of Psychology and Language Sciences (PALS) was ranked 2nd in the world in Psychology in the Shanghai World Rankings. These roles will be primarily based within UCL Computer Science, however, staff have fruitful interactions with both parent departments regardless of individual affiliation.

About the role

We are looking for two world-class academics in the area of Human Computer Interaction to join the UCL Interaction Centre (UCLIC). We particularly welcome applications from candidates with interests in the following areas: Physical Computing, Digital Health, Internet of Things (IoT), Tangible Interfaces and Ubicomp. We are also interested in researchers who have technical skills and experience in using in-the-wild research methods for evaluating physical and digital interventions. This is a wonderful opportunity to join UCL as it expands its interdisciplinary and leading-edge research agenda. UCL has a long track record of championing leading edge research (e.g. through the UCL Grand Challenges) and has established collaborations with industrial partners and local health providers, including the UCL Institute of Healthcare Engineering, the Global Disability Innovation Hub and the recently launched Institute of Mental Health.

About you

You will have an outstanding research track record in the relevant subject area. Appointment at Lecturer (Grade 8) or Associate Professor (Grade 9) will be determined by depth of experience and track record.

What we offer

Grade 8 Lecturer is offered with a salary range of £47,414 - £55,805 per annum.

Grade 9 Associate Professor is offered with a salary range £60,592 - £65,823 per annum.
