Introduction
The Data Science Building hosts several Research Centres of Excellence under one roof that undertake secure linked data analysis. These centres enable researchers to work together to unleash the potential of large scale data to conduct powerful new research. Ensuring excellence in all elements of our data information assurance is of paramount importance to the department. We need to ensure that we are legally compliant and trusted by data providers. In addition to our main building, we work through outlying centres to utilise a range of data for research within remote secure environments.
Two of the major programmes within this environment are the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage Databank (SAIL) and the Secure eResearch Platform (SeRP). SAIL has operated for over a decade, providing a safe research environment for researchers across the world to conduct public-benefit research using anonymised health and administrative records. This is supported by SeRP, which uses technology developed and maintained within the Data Science Building to provide a safe environment for research groups to store, process and share their own data. The Information Security team plays an essential role in ensuring a high level of information security across these programmes through the development of an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
We are looking for an individual who can support our Information Security team in maintaining good practice within this environment. The Information Security Administrator will support senior staff in managing the needs of the department and external stakeholders. This will play an important role within the department in meeting the stipulations of our recognised information security standards such as ISO27001, Digital Economy Act (DEA) Processor, and NHS IG Toolkit.
This role will work directly to the Audit and Compliance Manager (ACM). The post holder will play an essential role within the information security team, providing support to functions that monitor compliance with external requirements and generate benefits to the business. The post holder will utilise effective skills in administration to ensure that information security functions track clear objectives and generate documented evidence which demonstrates compliance and informs opportunities for improvement.
The successful applicant for this role will be able to demonstrate (through application and interview) that they meet the below essential criteria. Please note that the successful applicant will not need to demonstrate that they meet any of the desirable criteria, although these may factor into the panel’s decision in setting apart strong candidates.
