The Department of Sociology and Policy is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Public Health. The appointment is intended to strengthen and build new research activities in the Centre for Health and Society (CHS) and to support and lead teaching on the Masters in Public Health (MPH).
The post holder will have a strong track record of research appropriate to career stage. Candidates with expertise across public health are encouraged to apply. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with interests in the social determinants of health, health promotion, health economics, global health, and the economic and commercial determinants of health.
The post holder will be a flexible self-starter who is able to engage actively with team members, students, and other potential collaborators in sustaining innovative taught programmes. You will be committed to excellent teaching and be motivated to provide the very best experience for students.
In addition, the post-holder will have a well-developed plan for future research and external engagement. Candidates with a strong record of public engagement and research impact are particularly encouraged to apply. Your research track record will include publications in leading journals, and you will have clear plans to network and collaborate at an international level. Candidates applying at senior lecturer or reader level will be expected to have a track record of external grant capture. Candidates applying at all levels will be expected to contribute to increasing levels of grant income and the international reputation of CHS.
