South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership – Senior Administrative Officer

We are excited to offer a position within the University of Southampton Doctoral College to support the South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership. The South Coast DTP is a member of a national network of ESRC funded Doctoral Training Partnerships, and awards approximately 40 studentships each year to Masters and PhD students in the Social Sciences, delivering the latest developments in training in research methods and skills to produce highly qualified and rounded social scientists, equipped to meet contemporary economic and social challenges.
You will work in close collaboration with the DTP Manager, Director and partner network to ensure the efficient and effective day to day running of the DTP. Although based in Southampton, you will work closely with staff and students across the three partner institutions (Universities of Southampton, Portsmouth and Brighton), and a number of Faculties within Southampton.
The main duties of this post include:
You will be an excellent team player with experience and a proven ability to work proactively. You will be well organised and adaptable, taking a positive approach in reviewing processes and practices. You will possess excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing excellent customer service. You must also be a competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
There will be a requirement for occasional travel to our partner institutions and attendance at out of working hours/overnight events/visits.
Successful candidates will be able to work flexibly and remotely and will be expected to spend at least 60% of their contracted hours working on Highfield campus. Flexibility will be required should the business need require a greater on-site presence.
