The Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer (Scholarship and Professional Practice) in Deaf Studies who can make a substantial contribution to our BA (Hons) British Sign Language (Deaf Studies) programme.
Deaf Studies is located within the Department of Social Science, Inclusion and Public Protection, a large interdisciplinary unit which constitutes a rich and diverse range of academic disciplines including BSL Interpreting, Sociology, Criminology and Social Policy.
We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the provision of high quality teaching primarily on theory based modules. Experience or expertise in areas of Deaf Culture, Education and Policy are welcomed as is the ability to bring new areas of expertise based on the Deaf experience. The ability to teach on language and /or linguistics course would be an advantage.
You will have a good first degree or equivalent, a Masters’ degree in a relevant subject and experience of teaching, preferably in the HE sector. You should be fluent in BSL. We particularly welcome applications from Deaf academics.
