Advert text
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher, to join the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health (CTMGH), based at the University of Oxford. You will be based in the CTMGH, reporting to Dr Cherry Lim, working closely with other members of the ADILA project at Oxford, St George’s University of London and at collaborating centres outside the UK.
You will be responsible for identifying, reviewing, and assessing data sources in order to determine their relevance and utility for the research questions, and you will perform appropriate descriptive analyses of these data. You will perform expert elicitation exercises to obtain estimates of relevant quantities needed for this analysis. Other responsibilities will include developing and maintaining relationships with designated collaborators; responding to and, as appropriate, integrating feedback from collaborators into the analyses; working directly with collaborators to understand data to which they have access, and helping them understand the methods being applied.
It is essential that you hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in a relevant subject, along with experience in at least one relevant area of computational biology. You will need to have experience in expert elicitation methods, experience in developing decision tree models and experience of writing scientific papers. You will have a thorough knowledge of hospital antibiotic prescribing behaviour, clinical diagnosis data, and microbiological laboratory testing result interpretations in LMIC settings, and the ability to program in at least one language (e.g. R, Julia, C, C++, or Python).
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for 12 months and is funded by the Wellcome Trust.
Only applications received before 12 midday on 3 February 2023 will be considered. Please quote 162823 on all correspondence.
