Role Summary

The post holders will oversee the delivery of all teaching and learning related activity within the Schools, which will involve managing a team of Professional Services support staff and working closely with key senior academic and professional services educational leads in the Schools and across the College. They will be responsible for providing continuous support, development, mentoring and training to the team, in addition to managing staff performance and staff recruitment.

The post holders will be responsible for planning and make recommendations on team structures and recruitment strategies that ensure sufficient resources are available to deliver service. This includes maintaining documentation of processes, planning efficient workload allocations and ensuring essential work is covered in the event of absences.

The roles are based within a fast-paced environment, therefore the ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt quickly to changing priorities is key. A high degree of initiative and creativity in finding solutions to complex problems is actively encouraged and the post holders will be expected to proactively engage with/contribute to process improvement and the development of service delivery capability within the Schools and across the College.

Person Specification

  • Educated to at least A Level standard or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A proven record of data systems management and the implementation of effective quality systems.
  • Significant experience of working within an office environment.
  • Experience of working with computers (e.g. word processors) and a variety of software packages (e.g. Word, Excel, databases).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of managing staff and their performance.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise; work independently and able to prioritise complex and competing workloads.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, work to tight deadlines, and demonstrate personal judgement and resourcefulness.
  • Assertiveness and the ability to act decisively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach.
  • Good negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work well with different groups of people.
