Requirements

Reporting to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer and a key member of the Executive Committee, this is a key role in helping to shape the future of ICMP, a small growing specialist Contemporary Music Higher Education Institute. ICMP is the pioneer of contemporary music education in the UK and has been helping students build successful careers in the music industry for over 30 years. With a portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in popular music performance, production, creative musicianship, song writing and music business, we are proud of our mission to ‘shape the future of music’. Based in London, with a new purpose-designed facility, we enjoy unparalleled industry connectivity and offer students a unique experience that fuses academic study with the skills they need to sustain a life-long career in their chosen field. We have recently been granted Degree Awarding Powers and we have been successful in securing £7.8m of Capital funding from the Office for Students over a 4-year period to develop our new Queens Park Campus, to redevelop Dyne Road Campus and to develop our IT capabilities.

The successful candidate will have experience of successfully leading an Estates and Facilities department in an Educational environment. It is desirable if the experience is in Higher Education. They will have experience of managing complex building projects and being the Health and Safety lead across multiple sites. The role would involve project managing large and complex building projects and overseeing IT projects. The projects will include the completion of phase 3 of the Queens Park and Dyne Road developments. Ideally the post holder will also hold a recognised occupational health and safety qualification.

They will have experience of strategically developing and implementing long-term estates plans; resourcing and operational planning; and sustainability strategies and plans.

The role is to strategically plan, lead and develop the estates, facilities and IT operations of ICMP, ensuring that a high quality, fit for purposes learning and working environment is available to support ICMP’s educational provision. This includes adherence to relevant statutory and legal obligations, contractual terms regarding any lease agreements while ensuring excellent customer service levels to both students and staff. This role also oversees the IT operations.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of leadership and management with the ability to motivate, drive and manage the department. The successful candidate will have strong organisational and project management skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and collegiately with both academic and professional service colleagues as well as external stakeholders.
