Become a University Fellow, Become Unstoppable
Building on our strong REF2021 performance, the University of Salford is making a major investment in outstanding early career researchers. We are recruiting a total of 20 new University Fellows, across our four Schools. These prestigious appointments are aimed at fostering world-leading research and innovation, in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Fellows will be on a clear pathway to building an outstanding track record of research, innovation and impact. They will complement and extend research within defined areas of our portfolio; building novel activity. The scheme focusses on research in the first two years and over time the Fellows will take up an increasing portfolio of core academic activities, including teaching and academic leadership.
Within the School of Science, Engineering and Environment we are looking for talented individuals to join us who can advance our research in the following areas:
For more information on each of the areas, please see the further particulars document.
What is in it for you
Fellows will be recruited as a cohort beginning in August 2023 and will be supported to achieve their research and leadership ambitions through dedicated mentoring from academic leaders, peer support and a bespoke development programme aimed at providing the skills required for research and teaching leadership. In addition, Fellows will be awarded a start-up grant of £30K to establish their research.
Appointments will be open-ended and normally be made on the grade 8 academic scale (£43,414- £51,805), dependent on experience. It is anticipated that following successful completion of a five year, two stage supportive plan, Fellows will have built an evidence base to support an application for promotion to Reader.

The closing date for applications is 23:55 on 26th February 2023.
Interviews are expected to take place during the weeks commencing 20th and 27th March 2023.
