About our Team
The Accounting & Finance team are part of the illustrious Edinburgh Business School, which has over 49,000 alumni across 158 countries. Our Accounting & Finance team comprise world-leading researchers and respected academics with professional accountancy experience who come together to form a strong community that is known for pioneering research, applied learning and highly employable graduates.
Heriot-Watt offers accredited degree programmes at both postgraduate and undergraduate level. At undergraduate level, the Accountancy department offers two main taught programmes: MA (Hons) Accountancy; and MA (Hons) Accountancy & Finance. At postgraduate level, the Accountancy department offers two taught programmes: MSc Accountancy; and MSc International Accounting and Finance.
These programmes are accredited with multiple leading professional bodies and offer students the chance to develop the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in either the accounting and finance professions and industry. The industry focus of these degrees, and their breadth of accreditations, offer the strongest possible foundation from which students can launch their professional careers.
As a member of the Accounting group team, you will contribute to teaching Undergraduate, Postgraduate and MBA programmes in accounting, as well as contribute to the groups’ aim in increasing their global visibility through excellent research outputs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative and supportive School and Group, on an upward trajectory. A successful applicant would form part of a Research Centre within EBS, able to contribute to REF submissions and overall research activities while also receiving support and mentoring to enhance their standing in their field.
We are seeking to recruit academics with experience of teaching and research. As part of an international team, you will be able to build strong links with colleagues in Dubai and Malaysia to deliver high quality teaching and learning outcomes. You will contribute to the development of courses and programmes by innovating in teaching delivery, engaging in faculty administrative roles, and building links with practitioners.
The role will be based at the University's campus in Edinburgh. Programmes will be delivered in English and so fluency in English is essential. An induction programme will be delivered to all new academic staff on Heriot-Watt's standards and values, and to give practical experience on preparation, delivery, and assessment of teaching.
