Co-created by two exceptional organisations the University of Cambridge and The Health Foundation - The Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute (THIS Institute) is a fast paced, collaborative environment with the aim to advance research in how to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
We have an exciting opportunity for a creative, self-directed, and confident leader to join our Senior Management (Executive) Team. Operating at senior level in the executive team and contributing strategic thinking across all of the institute's activities, you will lead on THIS Institute's strategic development, including development of income-generation and enterprise activities, support the ideation and creation of new products, drive growth to create a pipeline of externally funded, ethically sound projects, and proactively identify opportunities for integration and strategic partnerships.
You will have experience in business development, organisational leadership or academic research, ideally in the higher education or healthcare sector, together with Extensive experience, in either the public or private sector, of successful leadership and delivery of complex programmes. You will have a demonstrable ability to think strategically, interpret business requirements and produce sound, cost-effective plans for delivery. You will be able to provide concise analyses of complex issues and options to support THIS Institute's senior team in decision-making. You will be experienced in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders. With excellent written and oral communication skills, you will be able to command credibility and confidence as a senior leader both within the University of Cambridge and externally.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2027 in the first instance.
The position is full-time, part-time applications will be considered for a minimum of 0.8 FTE.
Location - Department of Public Health and Primary Care, Strangeways Research Laboratory, Worts Causeway, Cambridge CB1 8RN (approximately 2 miles south of the city centre)
