The Role
Our pre-award funding support team support our academics to produce the best quality applications for research funding and our research leaders in their funding strategy. We are looking to increase the team temporarily to support a University strategic project to increase larger bids and the creation of more diverse interdisciplinary teams. The role holder will undertake hybrid work across all disciplines, focusing on the bid development and support elements of the role to support these groups at their outset to develop into strong interdisciplinary bidding teams able to produce high quality competitive bids. They will be able to draw on peer-knowledge and support to enable understanding of the University context and systems. The role is intended as full-time, but flexibility and job-sharing will be considered.
The Person
We are looking for an enthusiastic, capable administrator, interested in multiple facets of research and University life and strong prior experience in supporting research bids. It would be ideal for an experienced research support professional between roles or returning to the workplace. Interpersonal skills and ability to motivate others will be essential, as is a strong knowledge of research funding sources and programmes. Personal responsibility and integrity are a must. Strong communications abilities in all forms and media, including presentations to groups will be essential as will strong IT skills. We are a strong and well integrated team and are looking for someone who can work well within this group, but is also able to work both independently and with staff of all experience levels, seniorities and diverse academic background.
Directorate/Function
The Academic Services Directorate includes Research & Impact, Knowledge Exchange, Academic Registry, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre and Planning. Collectively the Directorate supports academics in their research and KE activities and supports some of the University’s governance and decision-making committees, maintains academic regulations, develops and implements academic policies, oversees the quality and standards of academic provision and leads the development of education practices across the University.
The Directorate is responsible for stimulating cutting edge research, impact and knowledge exchange and supporting a vibrant community of graduate research students, to increase the volume, impact and visibility of our research and business activities. We actively liaise with Faculties and researchers to support and develop research activities across all disciplines and provide related training and development opportunities. We foster interdisciplinary working to promote, advance and share knowledge with the overall aim of securing new revenue sources and contributing to regional prosperity. Our goal is to foster and sustain a vibrant research culture in which our researchers and research students can flourish.

This is a full time, fixed term position available until 31 July 2023 with a starting salary of £45,953 per annum.
