THE ROLE:
The University of Hull is seeking to appoint a Professor of Immersive Design, within the Faculty of Arts, Cultures and Education. The School of the Arts is a vibrant and distinctive community of academics across a range of different subject areas that include Drama, Music and Music Production, and Screen (which includes Film, Game Design, Graphic Design, and Media). The physical resources are first rate and include: a fully working theatre; a concert hall; music studios; and a recently completed Media hub (2021).
You will be based within the Screen team but given the senior nature of the role will be expected to contribute towards school, faculty, and university activities. This a key role to develop research and knowledge exchange capacity in this area within the faculty. As the Professor of Immersive Design, you will have knowledge and skills within traditional and virtual production as well as immersive media. Your expertise is required in areas such as real-time graphics, game engines, VFX, extended reality, digital art, and digital filmmaking. We encourage you to apply if you can present clear evidence of potential for excellence in teaching, research, and continuing professional developments. You will also lead the new MA Immersive Art Design which includes modules in extended realities (XR) and contribute to the undergraduate curriculum. You will be expected to supervise PGR students and develop research focus within the subject area supporting the strategic plans developed within the school and university.
