Applications are invited for an appointment as Senior Technical Officer at University of Galway.
Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for a full-time specific purpose position as a Senior Technical Officer with the NCLA laser group in Physics at the University of Galway, Ireland. The successful candidate will provide technical support for the implementation of a new undergraduate maker-space, funded under the Irish government’s HCI Pillar 3 project, called Designing Futures. The position will also provide hands-on research support in two key areas. The first area is in 3D selective metallisation underway in partnership with the Centre for Wireless Innovation at Queens University Belfast, funded by the European Space Agency. The second is in the area of two photon polymerisation used in the pilot manufacture of conductive tissue scaffolds for cardiology in partnership with the SFI funded CÚRAM Centre for Medical Devices in Galway and the CELL-MET and WWIEM centres at Boston University and Queens University Belfast, respectively.

Salary:
€54,693 to €65,762 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
(This appointment will be made on the Senior Technical Officer scale in line with current Government pay policy)
