The University of Hull has a vacancy for an Into-University Outreach Officer within SCE.
The Into-University Outreach Officer will support and deliver widening participation and outreach activity on campus, in schools, colleges and communities, representing the university positively and effectively to a variety of stakeholders. They will be responsible for the coordination and liaison of the work between the University of Hull, University of York and Into University. This will include liaison with faculty academics and other key staff and taking responsibility for the necessary administrative tasks for outreach, as well as raising awareness of the benefits of higher education and increasing student progression to University in line with the Access and Participation Plan.
Ideal candidates for this role will have substantial experience of working with young people, preferably in an educational environment. It is essential that they feel confident delivering talks, workshops and sessions to small and large groups, and have some experience of organising and delivering events and activities.
Enthusiastic and empathetic, candidates should demonstrate knowledge of and passion for the issues surrounding education and the barriers to progression young people can face, and commitment to improving the life chances of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The successful candidate will have relationship building experience, as effective relationships across university departments and faculties are vital to the success of outreach activities, as well as with external stakeholders, including young people, teachers and advisors, parents and carers.
This is a customer-facing role, so candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to meet the needs of stakeholders.
The post will involve some travel and candidates should have flexibility around evening working and some weekends.
