An opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant within the UH Finance team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Management Accountant is primarily a business partnering role, providing direct support to staff whilst operating as part of the University’s Professional team within the Finance Department. In addition, there are Central Finance responsibilities being involved with ad-hoc projects, Funding Councils, and responsibility for UH monthly, budget and forecasting management reporting.

You will also play a significant part in the Annual Planning process supporting the preparation of robust and challenged budgets and subsequently quarterly forecasts as well as Year- End.

You will play a role in the Year-End process, which involves assisting in preparing Financial Statements in accordance with professional accounting rules and concepts to meet University accounting policies and statutory reporting requirements as well as maintaining records and reviewing year end returns from each SBU.

Skills and experience needed

You will have experience of a management accountant role, providing financial advice, support and influence to non-finance colleagues. In addition, you must be able to combine business partnering with financial principles, working accurately to a detailed level, and Interpreting data to a high standard with the ability to communicate it both written & verbally to both finance & non finance audiences.

Ideally you will have excellent IT skills, particularly in Excel, with a proven record of development and achievement in the provision of management information.

Proven time management and organisation skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities successfully ensuring reporting deadlines are met, whilst also responding to in a timely manner to ad-hoc queries is also essential.

Qualifications Required

You must be at least a part-qualified member of a professional accounting qualification (CCAB and CIMA).

Holds Degree or equivalent, or proven experience.
