We are now looking for a Digital Collections Officer  to join our Swansea/ Carmarthen or Lampeter campus on a full time, permanent basis.

- THE ROLE –

The focus of this role will be on day-to-day support and maintenance of the external supplier platforms hosting the University’s digital collections, assisting with the library’s web page content and the routine administration of self-service and security technologies supporting the library collections.  The post holder will be expected to work effectively and pro-actively without constant supervision.

- ABOUT YOU -

To be considered as a Digital Collections Officer, you will need to be:

  • Educated to a very good standard of general education, e.g. at least GCSE level or equivalent
  • Qualification in information technology, computing or related discipline
  • Evidence of IT Literacy and recent working experience of using core IT systems, e.g. Web-based applications, Microsoft Office
  • Evidence of taking initiative and responsibility for tasks to meet targets and deadlines
  • Evidence of ability to produce detailed and accurate work
  • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Evidence of effective team working / working with others
  • Evidence of using questioning skills to identify good solutions
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive approach to personal learning and development 
  • Be able and prepared to work flexibly, including travel between campuses and locations when required

It would also be beneficial if you had:

  • A degree or equivalent higher level qualification in information technology, computing or related discipline
  • Experience of administering web-based subscription platforms
  • Recent experience of web page editing, and a basic knowledge of web programming languages
  • Experience of user experience (UX) design and testing methodologies
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Experience with data analysis and data visualisation technologies
  • Previous experience of working in Higher Education 
  • Experience of working with library systems or technologies
  • Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh (oral and written).
