We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Faculty's Professional Services Team, based in the School of Computing as Operations Assistant.
You will provide administrative support for the academic community, our students, and professional services colleagues.
You will provide the first point of contact for academic colleagues and students. You will manage enquiries and provide a customer focused approach by consistently delivering excellent customer service.
You will be involved with supporting the Schools events and other administrative duties within the School. You should be able to work successfully as a member of the team as well as an individual, working under pressure and prioritising your workload to meet tight deadlines.
You will be a confident communicator and have great interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with all colleagues and students. It is essential that you have recent experience of Microsoft Office. A forward thinking, proactive and positive "can do" attitude and flexible approach is vital to ensure the success of the role. Your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels will ensure you are a key member of our team.
The position is offered on a part-time basis at 22.2 hours per week start immediately. We are committed to building and maintaining a fair and inclusive working environment and we would be happy to discuss arrangements for flexible and/or blended working.
To apply, please complete an online application and upload a CV and a cover letter. Your cover letter is a supporting statement and you should outline how you meet the essential criteria of the role and evidence this with examples.
We appoint on merit and particularly welcome applications from groups that are currently underrepresented in administrative Professional Services such as LGBTQ+, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) colleagues and individuals who legally identify as male.
For all informal enquiries, please contact Louise Talbot, Team Leader (School of Computing) louise.talbot@newcastle.ac.uk.
