We are seeking to appoint an IT Technical Access Analyst to join the Technical Services Team of the UK Data Archive. The section provides support for the critical needs of the other divisions in the UK Data Archive, by installing, commissioning, configuring, developing, maintaining and updating internal and external systems which are in everyday use.
The UK Data Archive is the lead organisation of the UK Data Service, which provides unified access to regional, national and international social and economic data, and provides support, guidance and training for the development of skills in data curation and use.
Duties of the Role
The IT Technical Access Analyst is a critical role within the IT Operations team. This section provides technical services to other divisions in the UK Data Archive, and users of Secure Lab and AWS.
The IT Technical Access Analyst is a key member of the team working primarily on the Service Desk function, ensuring customers and business teams receive the technical support they require. The role involves triaging, allocating and escalating Secure Lab queries; reviewing technical evidence; setting up project areas and user accounts; and enabling access to Secure Lab. You will also investigate and resolve technical access issues and provide technical guidance to users of Secure Lab.
In addition, the IT Technical Access Analyst supports the IT Operations team in areas including asset management, distribution and deployment of hardware, access control, monitoring helpdesks, reviewing and documenting procedures and producing user guides.

Qualifications and Skills required
The successful candidate will possess two A-Levels (or equivalent qualifications) or significant professional experience in a similar role. Applicants must hold or be willing to work towards FitSM Foundation Certification.
Applicants should have a proven track record of working on a busy helpdesk or customer service environment and use of Service Desk software. Experience of working in a highly regulated organisation, an understanding of Information Security and the ability to document internal processes and procedures coupled with experience of delivering training and producing user guides is essential. You will also possess advanced skills in MS Windows/Office environment, providing training or support in this area.
In addition to this, analysis, problem solving and prioritisation skills, excellent attention to detail, a structured and methodical approach to work, an ability to work independently and direct own work, good written and verbal communication skills in English and an ability to work as part of a team are required skills and abilities.

The post is full-time and fixed term until 31/03/2024 in the first instance due to the nature of the UKDA funding. Whilst this is a full-time post, we would also welcome part-time applications at a minimum of 0.8 FTE (28.8 hours per week).
