The College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences are looking to recruit a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Business Intelligence Team.

The successful applicant will support and enhance the use of data to enable better decision making and record keeping throughout the College. They will develop new metrics and reports on a wide variety of topics.

The opportunity:

Business intelligence and management information needs to underpin the decision making of a modern University. The BI Analyst provides the first line service for all members of the College and its Schools and services requests for information and reports on the University main systems. To achieve this you will support and enhance the use of data to enable better decision making and record keeping, by developing new metrics and reports on a wide variety of topics.

Your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Receive and respond to BI requests from across the College and its Schools in support of College and School strategic priorities. Extraction of data from relevant corporate databases to produce coherent management information; drawing together data from various sources and presenting results using appropriate formats with textual commentary in liaison with the end user. (50%)
  • Manage and update the BI team’s array of routine reports, resolving technical issues and maintaining user access. (20%)
  • Identify further areas of commonality, share information and reports with and between colleagues in College and Schools using available technologies. Liaise independently with colleagues requiring development of new reports/dashboards and contribute to University-wide initiatives where appropriate. (25%)
  • Support line manager in the promoting all aspects of BI within the College and its Schools, including provision of training to colleagues (e.g. BI Suite, Power BI), maintaining and further expanding team’s Intranet/SharePoint presence, and actively contributing to/presenting at BI User Group meetings. (5%)
  • Any other duties as necessary in order to further the work of the team and College.
