Civil and Environmental Engineering at Brunel University London has enjoyed a sustained period of growth in our research portfolio and educational provision in our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. We are now looking to appoint an ambitious, and creative academic to join us, at either Reader or Senior Lecturer level, contributing to teaching and research for Construction Management and Technology. Applicants are required to indicate which level (Reader or Senior Lecturer) they are applying for in their cover letter and/or application form. The successful candidate is also expected to complement our growing strength in Civil Engineering research and teaching (in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses). Candidates for this post are thus expected to demonstrate expertise in Construction Project Management & Technology topics such as construction finance and economics, project risk management, construction method, BIM and/or digital construction technologies, all within the context of digitisation and automation of the construction industry, as well as contemporary industry practices.
The candidate should be self-motivated with clear ability and expertise. Additionally, you are expected to have a PhD in Civil Engineering, construction, or another relevant discipline, and should be aspiring to develop an internationally leading profile in your chosen field of expertise related to Construction Management and Technology. Shortlisted candidates will be able to demonstrate their potential through the quality of journal publications, research income generation and engagement with industry and other stakeholders.
High-quality teaching and student satisfaction are of paramount importance at Brunel University London and we expect the successful candidate to be able to engage warmly and constructively with our students and colleagues to provide a high-quality learning experience for our students. Membership (or evidence of pursuing chartered engineer status) of the Institution of Civil Engineers, or a similar professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB, etc.) is highly desirable. Applications from candidates with industrial experience, over and above a strong research and teaching track record, would be particularly welcome.
Informal enquiries regarding this post should be made to the Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Professor Xiangming Zhou (Xiangming.Zhou@brunel.ac.uk).
