Job overview
Our highly regarded and innovative NHS Knowledge and Library Service is in need of an information professional to help deliver our KnowledgeShare service. KnowledgeShare is an online tool used across the NHS to facilitate core evidence services. In this role you will categorise publications and member interests to deliver the current awareness service provided nationally via KnowledgeShare, and support colleagues locally and further afield with using the system. You will also carry out in-depth evidence searches and provide information skills teaching. A strong customer service focus, excellent information retrieval skills, and a degree in information management or a related subject (or equivalent experience) are all required for this varied role.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will carry out a wide range of professional library tasks under the supervision of senior colleagues. Primarily based at the RSCH Library, with some remote/home working, the Assistant Librarian (Knowledge Management) will support the KnowledgeShare system through extensive indexing work for current awareness, teaching colleagues to use the system face-to-face or via web-conferencing, providing a help-desk function and writing supporting documentation.
The post-holder will also support the Senior Knowledge Management Librarian and Knowledge Management Librarian in the delivery of other knowledge management initiatives on a project-by-project basis.
In addition, the Assistant Librarian will assist in the delivery of core services. This will include carrying out in-depth evidence searches and teaching information skills to KLS members. In all cases these professional tasks will be carried out as part of the larger professional team, with appropriate levels of training, support and supervision.
