Do you have experience of working in an administrative and/or customer facing role within a professional environment? Are you able to work well and accurately under pressure, using initiative to prioritise and meet conflicting deadlines? If so, we have a 12-month fixed term, part time (17.5 hours) Research Coordinator opportunity within the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) that could be just right for you.

In this role you will work closely with KMMS researchers to establish research processes and procedures for the school which are aligned to the wider Division and University - the work will reflect the start-up nature of the School and will vary.  

You will also carry out day-to-day pre- and post-award related tasks for all research activity within the School.  Such activities may include promoting funding opportunities, research proposal development, tracking applications, arranging mock interviews for large-scale grants, liaising with funders and undertaking general administration such as meetings organisation and diary management.  

What will you be doing day-to-day?

  • collaborating with central Research & Innovation Services to ensure compliance with set policies and procedure and relevant regulatory requirements
  • supporting external engagement events and activities to help raise the profile of KMMS research
  • monitoring and record all research applications and outcomes 
  • promoting research conferences, funder calls, application processes and deadlines to staff within the Medical School

What are we looking for?

  • experience of working in an administrative and/or customer facing role in a professional environment
  • enthusiasm and a proactive attitude 
  • some knowledge of research funding bodies and their requirements
  • good IT skills, with sound knowledge of MS packages and the ability to use these to create professionally formatted documents, process data and organise information
  • excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

KMMS opened to its first cohort of 108 pioneer students in September 2020.  The vision for KMMS is to create a medical school for Kent and Medway that becomes a beacon for first-class medical education and research.
