Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Flow Cytometrist to join our state of the art flow cytometry facility, run as a joint venture between the LMS and Imperial College London

You will provide professional, technical and administrative support to the Imperial BRC/LMS Flow Cytometry Facility including direct responsibility for the day-to-day running and maintenance of complex equipment to ensure a comprehensive, high-quality service to users.

You will provide specialist technical expertise in the field of flow cytometry and support users to further our world leading research. In addition, you will provide training, advice, and guidance in the use of flow cytometry equipment and applications, contribute to the development of training courses for users, and represent the facility at local, national, and international meetings, as required.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Have day-to-day responsibility for the operation of the flow cytometry instrumentation
  • Provide up-to-date technical expertise, advice and support to a very high standard in flow cytometry techniques and data analysis to facility users. This includes provision of a high-quality cell sorting service.
  • Provide training in data acquisition and analysis, including developing and delivering courses for new and expert users.
  • Assist the management of the Flow Cytometry Facility, including upkeep and maintenance of flow cytometry machines.
  • Ensure that the technical support provided is regularly reviewed in terms of user satisfaction and contribute to the future planning and development of the facility.

Essential requirements

The successful candidate will have a graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant subject. They will have experience of training and demonstrating skills and techniques.

A strong working knowledge of flow cytometry and software for analysing complex data will be an advantage for this role. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to communicate effectively, problem solving and organisational skills, and the ability to work independently and flexibly as required.

Further Information

This post is full time and fixed term for 2 years and you will be based at Hammersmith Campus.
