The School of Built Environment and Architecture is looking for a Lecturer to deliver on our undergraduate and postgraduate Building Services Engineering (BSE) courses. Their roles will include teaching on Level 4 to 7 of the BSE courses, i.e. HNC, HND and BEng and conducting research in the subject area topics

About you

We are looking for a candidate with the following skills/experience/qualities:

  1. PhD in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent professional status e.g. MCIBSE, MIMechE or MEI/CEng.
  2. Knowledge of UK Building Services Engineering standards, guidance, and legislation relating to electrical services.
  3. Teaching experience.
  4. Ambition to enhance research record.
  5. Experience of working as part of a team to enhance student experience.

Exciting work you will do

This role will give you an opportunity to be involved in research within the reputable Centre for Civil and Building Services Engineering (CCiBSE) Research Group that has worked on many collaborative projects and with a wide range of partners within and outside the UK. 

The skills and experience you will need to be successful

The successful candidate will have to be qualified in a Building Services Engineering discipline at undergraduate level and hold a doctoral degree relating to Building Services Engineering. The candidate should be a member of a relevant professional body and preferably hold an IEng or CEng status.

Experience of teaching in higher education would be beneficial, as would knowledge of the Building Services Engineering industry and writing research bids. The role will require the preparation of innovative educational materials to deliver high quality teaching as evidenced by strong module feedback and high student success on taught modules, so previous experience of module co-ordination/leadership would be desirable.
