About us 

In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF) evaluation, UCL Computer Science was ranked second in the UK for research power and first in England. 

Global Disability Innovation Hub is a research and practice centre driving disability innovation for a fairer world. It is part of the department of Computer Science and hosts the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre on Assistive Technology. 

About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Associate Professor to join our innovative and creative team. You will support the growth of the Computer Science Department through conducting research, teaching, outreach and enterprise activities with a focus on technology and ecosystem development. You will have a track record in one or more of the following areas:

  • Design and development of novel technology which supports disabled people
  • Design and development of innovation ecosystems which support assistive and accessible technology development
  • Co-design and participatory design with disabled people
  • Scaling interventions within geo-political and socio-technical systems
  • Design within the Global South context 

Main duties will be to teach modules in support of our Disability, Design and Innovation Masters programme, obtain research funding support and carry out research and produce publications. 

The salary scale for Lecturer is Grade 8 £48,614 - £57,041 

The salary scale for Assoc. Professor is Grade 9 £61,923 - £67,259 

About you 

You will have a PhD or equivalent in Global Disability Innovation or a closely related field (e.g Human Computer Interaction, Engineering). Possess a strong knowledge of a relevant subject area and a demonstrated link to how this will grow research and teaching in the area of Global Disability Innovation. You will have subject expertise enabling contributions to the Disability, Design and Innovation MSc. You will obtain research funding support and produce publications or other research outputs. You will supervise and assist with supervision of the departments undergraduates, taught graduate (Master) or research graduate students.
