Working with us as a Specialist Acoustic Technician
The Centre for Acoustics of the Built Environment (CABE) is one of three commercially focussed units within the Acoustics Laboratories at the University of Salford, providing unrivalled accredited acoustic testing and bespoke acoustic measurement to UK and international customers mainly in the construction and finishes sector. We are looking for a self-motivated individual join CABE to carry out testing and support research projects with focus on Building Acoustics, whilst supporting other areas in the commercial acoustics laboratories.
This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in a major growth area for the University with a potential to grow your skills and experience. The role will work with the CABE team supporting the Centre Lead, as well as liaising with external bodies such as Regulatory Authorities and commercial clients. The candidate will have a background in acoustics, physics and/ or engineering and have a good understanding of scientific equipment, measurement, data collection, report writing, software supported analytics and lab processes and procedures. An understanding of building materials and construction techniques, as well as an understanding related standards would be beneficial. We are industry-facing so experience of working in industry and/ or a higher education setting would be beneficial. We are a flexible dynamic team so we are looking for and candidate with excellent communication skills, a commitment to team working and a flexible approach that can deliver for the whole team.
The strategic vision for CABE is to consolidate our position as the UK’s leading centre of for Building Acoustics in the UK and become one of the leading centres in the world. This aim supports the University’s primary strategic objective of establishing and maintaining collaboration with industry.
The post holder will report to the CABE Centre Lead and will be based at University of Salford but will involve some travel for meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
