The Southern Universities Network (SUN) comprises a number of higher education providers, further education colleges, schools, and other organisations in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. It is part of the Uni Connect Programme https://www.officeforstudents.org.uk/. The Office for Students project aims to increase the number of young people from groups which are currently underrepresented in Higher Education progressing to university.
As project lead you will lead the delivery of the SUN outreach programme both on-and-off campus to targeted students, teachers, parents/carers and advisers, in accordance with the aims and objectives of Uni Connect. This post will see the successful candidate based at the Arts University Bournemouth, working under the direction of the SUN central team at the University of Southampton.
You will plan, manage and deliver outreach projects and programmes for the Southern Universities Network (SUN) in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Uni Connect programme. This includes proactively building, maintaining and enhancing relationships with key members of staff in schools and colleges in order to increase the profile of the programme; ensuring activity is delivered to young people, and their key influencers, which compliments programmes and initiatives already underway.
You will have significant experience of working with young people and knowledge of the education sector. You will possess excellent communication, organisation and relationship building skills. You will be a team player who will relish the challenge of working in a collaborative setting. You will be approachable and demonstrate a commitment to the values of the access and participation agenda.
The role will require occasional evening and weekend working and regular travel within the local region; therefore, you will need to be flexible to travelling and working outside of office hours and have a full UK/EU driving licence.
This position involves working with children (under 18s) / vulnerable people and therefore requires compliance with the University’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior to the commencement of employment. The University is committed to stringent Safeguarding practices, including in its practices around the recruitment and selection of staff, to positions which involve working with children and/or vulnerable people. The successful candidate will be required to complete AUB approved Safeguarding Training.
