This post is a full time, 2 years fixed term position, and is within the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, and in the interdisciplinary ‘High Voltage and Energy Storage Group (HVES)’. 

The overall purpose of the post is to support research development in the HVES Group, and to undertake independent research and a small amount of teaching-related duties as the foundation of an academic career. 

The role includes the following tasks:

  • Establish a programme of independent research that complements that of the School and Research Group.
  • Take responsibility for the design and implementation of appropriate modelling and experimental studies, related to electric vehicles and energy storage.
  • Write proposals as PI or co-PI for research grant submissions and identify sources of funding.
  • Lead on the writing up and dissemination of research findings.

You should have:

  • Experience as an independent researcher or post-doctoral researcher.
  • At least one high quality output.
  • Experience of using high level engineering software, eg MATLAB, Simulink, COMSOL, and SolidWorks, and programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with research interests in electric vehicles and sustainable transport, including control engineering and laptime simulation.
