Are you an experienced senior administrator looking for a new challenge? Would you relish supporting excellent research that contributes to a better world?

We are delighted to be recruiting to a new and exciting role providing high level administrative support to world leading research and interdisciplinary collaboration in Sussex Neuroscience, a Sussex university Centre of Excellence.

In the role of Senior Research Project Officer, you will be based in the School of Life Sciences and work within a small friendly team of academic and professional services colleagues to:

  • Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies.
  • Oversee aspects of the day to day running of the centre, as well as contributing to the development of longer-term plans and strategies.
  • Develop plans for and organise a range of events.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sussex Neuroscience management team to support the effective implementation, delivery, and evolution of Sussex Neuroscience as a University Centre of Excellence.

This part time role is both varied and focused, supporting a small management team with defined goals and tasks that adjust over the course of the year, allowing you to focus on specific targets as they arise and maintain a good work life balance.

Success in this role will require an excellent organisational capability, strong communication skills and the ability to identify and creatively achieve goals. You will have an interest in the possibilities of Neuroscience both in terms of academic research and impact on society and the world.  In return you will enjoy a dynamic environment working with academic and professional services colleagues, to achieve shared goals.

A scientific qualification or background is not a requirement for this post; we are a team with varied backgrounds, interests, education, and experiences.

Potential candidates are strongly encouraged to make informal contact with the Directors before applying (Louise Serpell, l.c.serpell@sussex.ac.uk; Miguel Maravall, m.maravall@sussex.ac.uk; and Chris Bird, chris.bird@sussex.ac.uk).

You may also contact the roles professional services manager Gemma Harman (Senior Research Manager) G.Harman@sussex.ac.uk  for informal enquiries.
