The Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join leading data scientists at the National Innovation Centre for Data (NICD), to support the Centre's technical effort to improve productivity through data by transferring ‘in demand' data science skills into UK organisations.

NICD has been established to address the data skills gap in the UK that will enable organisations to innovate through data. It delivers a flexible rolling programme of collaborative projects that focus on a specific business challenge or opportunity and transfers practical data skills into the workforce. Using these new skills, organisations can make better, data driven decisions, optimising existing operations or launching new products and services.

You will be responsible for delivering client facing projects, by leading a team-based approach for larger projects, line-managing data scientists and delivering technical projects yourself. You will be responsible for ensuring that data skills are transferred to the client participants through tutoring and mentoring in line with the project aims and objectives. These projects can span a broad range of sectors and involve organisations of all sizes, from start-ups and SMEs through to national and international companies. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, understanding the business need and offering possible technical solutions to address these questions.

You should be educated with a PhD or MSc in a related discipline with substantial industrial experience in a relevant area. You will have experience of delivering data-related projects requiring relevant new skills and solutions implemented. You should have relevant knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Analysis, Statistical Modelling, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Machine Vision, MLOps, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Visualisation.

You must be excited to challenge yourself and to continue to advance your skills through continued professional development. You must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively. You must have a positive ‘can-do' attitude and an enthusiastic approach to solving problems.
