As a top global 100 University committed to research excellence the University of Birmingham is an exciting and dynamic place to work. We have been awarded funding from the Wellcome Trust to trial innovative ways of making higher education research cultures more race-inclusive, and we are seeking an experienced Training Consultant to help devise and delivery learning and development initiatives that encourage diverse research environments and more inclusive team cultures.  Working across the University and with internal and external EDI and learning and development specialists, the postholder will work to combine existing institutional knowledge with newer insights to help create and trial the tools to support culture change.  We are seeking someone with experience of delivering EDI training and an academic background that provides them with insight into people development and organisational change e.g., Human Resource Management, Learning and Development, Work Psychology,  Organisational Development, etc.

The postholder will have excellent facilitation skills with credibility at senior levels (academics and professional services) and a good knowledge of the whole learning and development cycle, including training needs analysis and evaluation. A good understanding of the Higher Education sector, and the challenges and opportunities faced by the University in creating a more inclusive environment is also essential.

The ASPIRE programme is an important part of the University’s commitment to  equality, diversity and inclusion. As an employer we offer opportunity to all and seek to reflect the diversity of wider society at all levels of our organisation.  We offer both job specific and wider professional development opportunities for all professional services staff, as well as a hybrid working schedule to accommodate both on campus (Edgbaston) and home working.
