The African Cities Research Consortium (ACRC) has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to lead on effective and efficient operational management across all aspects of the ACRC programme. This is a fixed-term position available until 6th November 2025.
ACRC is a collaborative research programme seeking to tackle complex urban development challenges in Africa's rapidly changing cities. Funded by FCDO, ACRC aims to generate robust insights and evidence that will help improve living conditions and urban services for all city residents, especially disadvantaged communities.
The Operations Manager will be a key member of the ACRC’s Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO, Research and Uptake Directors and Head of Project Delivery on operational, financial, and strategic planning, as well as collaboratively working across several university teams and with external partner organisations to ensure delivery of the programme. The postholder will be the primary point of contact with the University of Manchester (UoM) on all operational matters, ensuring adherence to UoM policies, playing a pivotal role in optimising operational efficiency, managing budgets, and fostering collaboration across diverse teams.
This position requires a professional with a strong proven track record in operations management, process development and improvement, and team leadership, coupled with adept financial management skills in overseeing a multi-million-pound international research initiatives, will be key. The ideal candidate will also possess thorough knowledge and experience of successful operational leadership and management, particularly in large-scale collaborative programmes within a Higher Education or Research Institute setting. With highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, the ideal candidate will thrive in building effective relationships with senior management, academics, and external stakeholders.
