A fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a Policy & Employee Relations Partner to join the University’s People and Organisational Development (P&OD) department.

About the role

Reporting to the Interim Head of Policy & Employee Relations, in this role you will provide a customer-focused and professionally robust policy development and employee relations service that supports the University Strategy and related P&OD strategies and initiatives.

One of the strategic themes in the P&OD 2020-2025 strategy is centred on providing an excellent employee experience for our workforce, and the work that you will be doing will contribute to this. This will include:

  • Developing, implementing and maintaining HR policies and procedures in support of the P&OD Strategy, ensuring that the University's employment and management frameworks reflect best practice and legal requirements.
  • Supporting the delivery of a positive employee relations culture through maintaining constructive engagement with the recognised Trade Unions, employees and University management groups.
  • Leading on the delivery of employee relations projects or initiatives in response to identified trends and organisational needs, integrating with other strategic programmes as required.
  • Supporting the effective and efficient management of ER case work and related initiatives to improve organisational performance and capability in this area.

About you

You will have proven experience, gained within a large and complex organisation, of working across a broad range of HR areas and providing high-quality advice and guidance on a range of HR matters.

With well-developed knowledge of employee relations best practice and current employment legislation in UK., you will also have experience of working in a unionised environment and building positive relationships with trade union representatives.

One of the main duties in this role will be leading on the development/ review and implementation of P&OD policies and associated documentation/ processes, therefore the ability to draft policies, procedures, papers or reports using clear, simple language to a consistent standard is essential.

Key to your success in this role will be your excellent project management and planning skills, used to support the implementation of new policies (or other workstreams) and to co-ordinate engagement with colleagues, management and trade union representatives.

This post is full time (35 hours per week, Monday- Friday) and open-ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
