Arts University Plymouth (AUP), the newest specialist arts university in the UK is seeking to appoint an IT operational lead to its services team.

As a key operational lead, the postholder will be responsible for the effective daily implementation and communication of the institution's  IT services and infrastructure within its portfolio. The role will ensure that the IT provision continually endeavours to support outstanding teaching, learning and research excellence, inline with the Universities objectives and strategic values.

The operational lead plays a vital part within the University, enhancing the operational infrastructure as a small institution demands. They will lead a skilled and diverse team, committed to building on our achievements as a University to its nationally acclaimed accolades from our students*. 

Through proactively maintaining the IT-related provisions and services of the University, the postholder will lead the team to assure the University meets the ever-changing and demanding expectations of its staff and students, maximising the value of our existing assets, whilst creatively engaging across stakeholders to achieve our future objectives. 

Our Board recently approved a new strategic plan to 2030, and this post holder will work with the Head of Resources to transform our infrastructure to meet the evolving needs of our students and staff.

About You:

  • You will be a great communicator with exemplary organisation skills
  • You will be able to effectively lead a team of IT specialists
  • You will have previous experience with current and compliant  IT systems and practices
  • You will be able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and understanding of  IT systems and  administration skills; you may have worked in a technical or specialist IT role previously
  • You will be able to work flexibly across all areas of the business portfolio where required
  • You will be comfortable leading operationally whilst demonstrating a future focussed approach  to the vision and integrity of the business need, providing sound business judgement to all tasks

About The Role:

  • Working under  the direction of the Head of Resources, you will implement the  operational  needs and aspirations of the institutions strategic plan and vision
  • Lead and direct a team to envision and deliver new ways of integrated working to meet the changing environment in which a diverse education establishment operates
  • Lead operational projects, including fleet refreshes, software renewals and institutional services, by  managing all end-to-end delivery of  engagement with stakeholders
  • Embed an understanding for critical priorities, honing an ability to deliver creative solutions to effectively address stakeholder needs
