We are seeking an enthusiastic Operations Officer to join the School of Politics and International Relations. We are looking for someone who has the transferable skills to be able to the make most of this opportunity. 

As Operations Officer, you will be part of an integrated team with responsibility for providing operational and administrative support for a range of School/Faculty processes and activities, with a primary focus on supporting Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) and Core Operations. You will:

  • Support the smooth and efficient delivery of core operations, ensuring that established processes are adhered to, and that academics and senior professional services colleagues are supported in the delivery of their duties. 
  • Support the smooth and efficient delivery of research-related operations, ensuring that established operational processes are adhered to, and support academics in the delivery of their RKE-related activity. 

You will need good interpersonal skills, work well in a team, be organised, flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced and varied environment.  As someone who learns quickly, is proactive and self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills, you will help drive forward improvements and deliver excellent service.  In return we will support your development and put in place a personal training programme to help you progress in your career. 

The post is offered on a full time (36.25 hours per week), fixed term contract until 31 July 2025. Job share arrangements may be considered. 

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
