Role

To support and manage a portfolio of projects funded under EU and Horizon Europe guarantee scheme; to establish specific areas of knowledge and interest and develop new areas of activity for the project consortium. Working with colleagues in the Faculty of Sciences Research Support team to deliver research project support to additional EU and UK funded research projects in the wider chemistry department as required, including finance reviews, support with project reporting and identifying potential funding opportunities. This role is part time (0.8 FTE) and fixed term for a period of 2 years.

Main activities include:

  • Develop and maintain agreed project plans defining criteria for control and management of the project
  • To manage project consortiums, and to be the primary UoY contact with external agencies as required
  • Manage the project administration and budgets, including the development of administration and statistical information recording systems to support the project and coordinate the timely completion of monthly timesheets.  
  • Be responsible for the management, development and implementation of financial procedures and processes to ensure the project budget is managed effectively and in line with agreed income, and to support accurate financial monitoring and reporting. 
  • Plan and manage the deployment of resources to meet project milestones 
  • In collaboration with our Research Grants and Contracts office (RGO), ensure that contract compliance for the project is upheld, report any variances and initiate action as appropriate. Liaise with RGO before and during any audits – helping to ensure that key documentation is available and any queries are handled. 

Skills, Experience & Qualifications needed

  • Relevant degree or equivalent professional qualifications
  • Good knowledge of research funding policies, programmes, procedures and mechanisms.
  • Understanding of HE research issues.
  • Significant project management experience, working with staff and collaborators to deliver multiple objectives
  • Commitment to and understanding of Equality and Diversity Issues
