The Role
We are looking to appoint a highly motivated technician to support and teach in our new film studio and post-production suite to be based in our School of Media and Performing Arts which is an award-winning, creative hub that has a history of innovation and industry collaboration.
This role provides specific expertise, instruction, demonstration, and technical facilitation/support in assigned areas of the Film Studio, Post-production, and Media Asset Management. Providing film studio management, recording, lighting, editing and workflow skill support and instructions.
You will provide support to the production processes in the Film Studio including the management of the studio space and in providing skills support with recording, lighting, and editing workflows. This post will support the broader activities of the College but be primarily focussed on students of Film and Media Production.
There will opportunities to develop skills in our brand new and well-resourced new College building through collaborative creative projects. The University is a signatory to the Technician Commitment.
Qualifications Required
Honours degree in relevant field or If from a professional practice or industry background: Sustained, appropriate level industry experience in a relevant field.
Our Successful Candidate
The successful applicant will be highly motivated and a resourceful individual who is passionate about inspiring the next generation of creatives and developing their technical skills. Proven experience and technical skills in film production workflows (production and post-production) and experience of working in film studio or support environment, resolving faults and providing advice and guidance.
Applicants need to be practice-based, with the ability to deliver technical workshops and support activities in the specialist area. You will be an experienced technical educator, who understands the need to provide a range of theory-informed practice and industry-related creativity in the use and application of digital technology.
Experience in managing a Media Asset Management system and must be able to delegate appropriately and prioritise work appropriately. Experience of providing technical support for studio-based teaching and research, including software and hardware support.
