We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Student Administration to oversee the operation and development of the NDM’s Postgraduate Programmes, including our D.Phil. in Clinical Medicine and our growing number of taught programmes here at the Nuffield Department of Medicine. You will be working with the Director of Finance and Operations, Academic Director of Graduate Studies, and the Academic Programmes Manager.

You will be the senior officer responsible for the operational management of the NDM’s Postgraduate Programmes, including our DPhil in Clinical Medicine and our growing number of taught programmes.  Working with the Director of Finance and Operations, Academic Director of Graduate Studies, Course Directors and the Academic Programmes Manager, you will be required to be proactive and innovative in the development of future strategic plans and to lead the delivery of the wide range of objectives and projects. You will make a strong contribution to the development of policies relating to graduate matters at Departmental, Divisional and University level, and will manage the implementation of such policies within the Department.

The post also entails overall management responsibility for the Academic Programmes Centre operational team, which delivers support for graduate student administration across the Department. Additionally, the team is involved in the delivery of Academic Programmes events and projects, ongoing development of the website as well as the administration of the competitive -NDM Prize Studentship and other scholarship competitions. You will provide leadership and direction to the team manager, setting goals and standards, and taking overall responsibility for the quality of the services delivered.

This is a challenging post requiring significant experience in the field of graduate (research and taught) education, both nationally and internationally. You will require excellent skills in the areas of strategic planning; policy development and implementation; committee servicing; overseeing the management of operational matters; written and oral communication; budget management; as well as a firm understanding of academic administration. You will be working largely independently and will need to relate well to staff at all levels. You will be expected to provide expert guidance to senior officers and academics on a wide variety of academic policy matters relating to graduate studies, as well as making a significant contribution to the development of strategic plans and administrative policies for the NDM’s Postgraduate Programmes
