The MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Cambridge is an internationally renowned institution focussed on the delivery of field-changing mechanistic insights into toxicology and disease.
An opportunity has arisen at the Unit for a Facilities Manager with responsibility for the physical infrastructure, facilities and high quality support services in order to support effective operation of research activities.
The role:
Management and leadership of the estates team
Project manage major and minor building projects including scientific projects
Undertake space management and planning
Manage and oversee scientific support and estates budgets
Oversee service contracts and existing warranties
Manage Fixed Asset register
Responsible for Emergency Action Plan
Represent the Unit at appropriate committees
Act as Departmental Safety Officer Deputy and Fire Manager Deputy
Provide key input into business continuity plans
Chair and promote the Green Committee for the Unit
Available for weekend work / on call as required
What you will need:
Graduate level education in a science subject
Experience of managing and negotiating contracts
The ability to manage staff and build an effective team
Experience of project planning and delivery
Strong communication skills with the ability to produce and present concise reports
Experience of health and safety management is desirable
Research experience in a biological laboratory setting would be an advantage
This is an open-ended position funded by the MRC.
