Job summary

An exciting opportunity has come up to join Imperial’s Registry team at a senior level, as part of a newly created job-share. As Head of Assessment Records, you will work alongside another experienced professional to lead a hardworking, friendly and supportive team in the delivery of assessment administration. You will be responsible for ensuring that the assessment outcomes of all Imperial’s 23,000 students are processed correctly, and that students receive their awards at the end of their studies.

You will work with colleagues from across the university to improve processes and systems around assessment administration. Imperial’s new strategy and its underpinning delivery plan envision an ambitious future in which digital transformation makes a real difference to the student experience. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the roll-out of digital enhancements in assessment administration for students and staff. You will be able to make a real and lasting positive impact on the Imperial community.

Duties and responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage the Assessment Records team, ensuring staff are trained and are able to fulfil their duties effectively
  • Be responsible for the accurate record and retention of assessment outcomes for all students at the university
  • Support the introduction of new digital functionality to improve the student experience
  • Build effective relationships with staff across the university and advise them on regulations relating to student assessment
  • Identify and implement improvements to processes and practices

Essential requirements

In this role you will need:

  • An awareness of, and sensitivity to, equality and diversity of staff and students
  • Experience of working in a student records or examinations team in a higher education institution, and knowledge of higher education assessment processes
  • Experience of managing or supervising staff
  • Experience of providing a responsive, customer-focused service
  • A high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail
  • Excellent IT and numeracy skills

Further information

This role is for 0.5 FTE and on a fixed-term basis until April 2026. There is some flexibility on working hours and working pattern which can be discussed if your application is successful. The successful candidate will work in a job-share alongside a member of staff who is already in post.

Imperial supports hybrid working for this role. Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work at least 40% of their time onsite. The opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.
