The University is seeking to appoint an Associate Director of Student Success, a senior role bringing together activities that support student access participation and success. The role includes leading our award-winning Widening & Participation and Careers and Employability Teams, and a total team size of approx. 30 professionals.

The role

Reporting to the Director of Student Life, and playing a key role in the Chief Student Officer Leadership Team, the Associate Director of Student Experience will:

  • Play a pivotal role in shaping the student experience and future prospects of our diverse student body.
  • Lead our Widening Participation and Outreach, Student Success and Employability and Careers Teams.
  • Take the lead on Student Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives.

The role is integral to the institution's commitment to fostering inclusive, equitable, and enriching environments for all students, irrespective of their background or circumstances, providing all Surrey students with the opportunity to meet their potential.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience in delivering Widening Participation or Careers and Employability activities and will have a strong track record of management in a Higher Education environment. They will have a good understanding of the student lifecycle and the support Universities can put in places to enable the success of all student groups. The role will require a natural, authentic leader who can balance strategic challenges with the imperative to deliver effective solutions through a dedicated team of professionals, keeping student success at the heart of their decision making at all times.
