About the role

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies: A Systems Approach is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Digital Communications Lead based in the University of Bath Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change. 

This will entail enhancing how the CDT’s research and other initiatives are presented externally as well as supporting the implementation of digital technologies for research and configuring and maintaining digital research tools.

This is a part-time position, funded until autumn 2032.

The post holder will work closely with the CDT's Training and Partnerships Director, Manager, Management Board, and students to create, integrate and communicate effectively with a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders new content on our research and activities.

The post holder will also provide dedicated support in digital technologies for research and digital communications for the CDT’s community including staff, students and external partners and will manage the “outward facing” aspects of this CDT including web and social media presence, press releases and liaison with academic, industrial, policy and public communities.

About you

We are looking for a highly creative individual with the ability to produce high quality communications via multiple media, as well as an interest in sustainability.

Knowledge of digital communication and research tools is essential to the role.

An interest in running public engagement initiatives is highly desirable.

The post holder will posses a positive attitude and a conscientious approach to work, a well-developed sense of responsibility, as well as a high degree of flexibility.

Capacity for autonomous and pro-active working as well as the ability to contribute to a team is essential.

About us

The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies: A Systems Approach (CSCT) is an EPSRC-funded training centre at the University of Bath that will train around 70 PhD students in five cohorts, hosted within the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change (ISCC). 

The CDT will operate in close partnership with our Swindon-based Innovation Centre for Applied Sustainable Technologies (iCAST), a £17M partnership for innovation and translation of research that has established a cluster of over 100 sustainable technology companies and will provide a dynamic innovation-focused context for PhD training in the region.

The Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change integrates physical, social and systems sciences at Bath and develops leaders in tackling critical sustainability issues. 

The Institute aims to deliver novel chemical technologies and robust behavioural solutions, brought together through whole system evaluation to reframe problems and create transformative innovation in sustainability and climate change.

This is a very dynamic role where the ability to work with people from different backgrounds as well as build strong interpersonal relationships is key, as the post holder will interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis.
