We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to work within Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences. This is an exciting opportunity to be the Cardiff University site’s Research Assistant in the CONNECT study. The CONNECT study is a multi-site Wellcome Trust funded project which aims to identify relapse signatures in those with schizophrenia and psychosis using active and passive digital monitoring and data collection methods.
The post-holder will have some experience and interest in research on psychosis or in severe mental health problems. The post-holder will be responsible for recruitment and assessment of participants in the study and will work closely with the Cardiff Research Co-ordinator, the study Project Manager and the project team. The successful applicant will join the Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences in Cardiff University and become a member of the psychosis research group and National Centre for Mental Health.

The successful applicant will have a degree (2:1 or above) in Psychology or a related field, or equivalent experience and a working knowledge research methods and techniques, such as using psychological self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with people with severe mental health problems. The successful candidate should also possess an up-to-date theoretical and practical knowledge of working with people with severe mental health problems, particularly people who experience psychosis.

This post is full-time 35 hours per week fixed term until 30th November 2025 and is available from 1st June 2024.

This post is based at the Hadyn Ellis Building, Cathays Campus, Cardiff.

The majority of roles at Cardiff University are currently operating under “blended working” arrangements, with staff having the flexibility to work partly from home and partly from the University campus depending on specific business requirements. Discussions around these arrangements can take place after the successful candidate has been appointed.

Salary: £32,332 - £34,980 per annum (Grade 5). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
