This is a fixed term Graduate Teaching Assistant post within the Psychology and Sociology Subject Area and is offered on a part time basis (0.5 FTE) for 36 months with the fees associated with postgraduate research studies addressed by the faculty.
The post will require you to undertake teaching, assessment, and related activities, primarily on British Psychological Society Accredited Psychology awards. The successful candidate may register as a postgraduate research student aligned to the Exceptional Experiences & Consciousness Studies Special Interest Research Group.
We want you to be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. We understand this may vary between different areas of the university as well as from one person to another. With Smarter Working you can work with increased flexibility, if you would like to, which can facilitate greater freedom and autonomy.
About you
You will be a highly motivated individual with a willingness and ability to teach on a wide range of BPS “core“ modules including research methods. You will be expected to possess a relevant degree in psychology (eligible for BPS GBC). A working knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, and of research methods and findings in parapsychology is desirable.
A dedication to providing a personalised and supportive student learning experience is essential to the post. You will have well developed written and verbal communication, time management and organisation skills and an effective approach to completing tasks. Good IT skills, including competence in using visual learning environments and remote teaching platforms are essential.
